    Forum Spam

    Friday, April 17, 2009 - 06:02 PM

All of a sudden in the last month or so, we've had a few human spammers hit the Sheldon forums. Nothing horrendous, thus far. Just notes like "I'm writing something generic! [followed by a link to something-online.com]". But it's annoying to me, and, I imagine, annoying to you as well.

Our signup process is just tedious enough that I'm flummoxed it's "worth it" to these people, but maybe in a down economy it is.

In any case, I'm deleting/blocking offending accounts as soon as they pop up. When you see an offending one, just drop me an e-mail with the username, and I'll take it from there.

    Thanks!

1 GRAMP: Why isn't this mail-merge working on my computer?
SHELDON: There's a slight field-mismatch between the original database and-- No... You know what? It's like this:
    THE HOUSE
    • Computer
2 SHELDON (Miming): ...all the programs on your computer are at a cocktail party. And as the shrimp is comin' around, most of the programs are like "Oh, I'll just take one." ...But one prgram is SHOVELLING shrimp into his untucked flannel shirt. HE'S TAKIN' ALL OF IT.
3 SHELDON (talking to Arthur): Explaining software to him does no good, so I just personify it.
    ARTHUR:
GRAMP (off-panel): Give back the dang shrimp, Excel!
