A Clime for Rhyme from Time to Time (6 comments)

A Clime for Rhyme from Time to Time

Friday, January 25, 2008 - 12:46 AM

Aside from the occasional Arthur-created rhyme (which is one of my favorite strips of all time)... it's worth mentioning that Sheldon and Gramp once dipped into a little rhyming themselves:

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.

I get an extra laugh from this because here in France, wi-fi is pronounced 'wee-fee.' So basically Arthur is going away 'From my wee-fee hee-fee see-fee!!!'

Go ahead, try to say it without laughing!

This is what happens when Sheldon drinks too much Mountain Dew, methinks. ;)

This reminds me of when I first heard that the masculine-sounding "Vini, Vidi, Vici" was just as likely pronounced by the Romans as "Weenie, Weedie, Weechi."

Is he watching Sky High?

Ha!

Oh, man... that gave me a good laugh. I'm a sucker for ridiculous wordplay like that. Another good example is the Pearls Before Swine's "sea anemone enemy" strip. Good stuff.

In Response to Ikcor (#40562):

Sky High is such a great movie. My dad got me hooked, and I have since watched it with him at least 10 times.

As to the Pearls strip, I find that some of the wordplay he does is funny and some of it's irritating. Although on second thought, I think that what's irritating is less the wordplay and more the frequency of it.
