Voting Should Always Have Cookies

California is voting today... and my wife and I always get a goofy grin when we go to our polling place.
In the past, our voting places have included fire houses, public gyms, synagogues, churches, and warehouses... but our current one takes the cake: It's the living room of this sweet little old couple. And when I say "sweet little old couple," I mean sweet little old couple. It's like walking in to your grandma's house to go vote. "Okay, dear, here's your ballot. And stand up straight and tall when you vote — this is a wonderful thing you're doing, remember! And here's a cookie."
All voting should be like that: Accompanied by sweet grandmothers.
What's the best/worst/weirdest polling place you've ever had?

So far I've only had the high school gym in my home town. Not exciting. Big. Echo-y. But not exciting.

I was in the Army for the 1988 Presidential election, which was my first election. I voted via absentee ballot in the TV room of the training barracks at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX.

They had it at the old couple's home once (no cookies). It's usually the community center, but has been at a tow truck company, carpet store, and today was the banquet room of a chinese restaurant.

One year I got to vote in a used book store. That was fun, but incredibly dangerous since I can hardly walk into a book store without emptying my wallet.

I've had to vote mostly in an elementary school gym, the (very cramped) town council chambers, the old armory (when I was in college) and this year the gym of a catholic church. This last one doesn't sound too bad, but when you consider that the church is set back on a hill, and the school is
behind the church, and the gym for the school is
behind that... I think I put about five miles on my car just to get from the road to the polling place!
