"How I Make Sheldon" Video, Take One

So, I'm in the process of filming a "How I Make Sheldon" video to show you guys, right? And I borrow two digital cameras from friends, and set them up on either side of my drawing-desk chair, right? 'Cause that'll be fancy, and will allow me to edit back and forth in those moments when my hands are blocking what's being drawn, right?
Awesome. Great idea. Let's do it.
So I set the two cameras up, and test them both to make sure the POVs are clear and the tapes recording well...and then sit down to begin making a Sheldon toon.
And two hours later, when I'm done with the toon, I stand up to check the recording...and it's two hours of the back of my head. IN BOTH CAMERAS. Sure, I had tested the cameras before I started, but I forgot to test them when I was in my "drawing posture," which of course is gonna have a forward lean to it.
So, yeah. Awesome. A collective four hours of the back of my head. Well done, Captain Brilliant. Film School, here I come!

That sounds like something you'd see on the IFC.

LOL! Of COURSE you did it wrong... you're supposed to use FOUR cameras: one on each side (in non-blocking zones this time), one bird's-eye view of your drawing board, and one attached to a boom arm on a helmet and pointed right at your face for color commentary.
And you are shooting this in HD, right?

Actually, you're supposed to use SIX cameras, Dave.
If you don't use a steady cam and one of those forehead cams, you're TOTALLY amateur!

Why not add a few subtitles, throw in a couple of quick, flickering edits, some mood music and then release it as an art house movie? Very minimalistic, very now, ne c'est pas, daaaaahlink? The hard-working, industrious arteeeest, struggling for his fame, his fortune and his duck's feathers.
Then again, why not just take some frames, title them "Fly-on-the-wall's POV" and "Do you think I need a haircut?" and then sell them off for a fortune on eBay. Surely all that effort shouldn't be wasted, right?

D'oh. ToshisGirl posted the idea to sell it as an arthouse film before I did.
...but I do have an idea that she did not have (Take that ToshisGirl!)- send it to the Daily Show as a potential "Moment of Zen." It just exudes Zen-itude.

Sadly, this doesn't seem any stupider than that video you showed last week of a group of people standing around loitering at a train station and calling it art. I have to agree with the rest of the group to release this film and call it an art film.

Andy Warhol filmed 8 hours of someone sleeping, and also filmed ... what, 10 hours? ... of the Empire State Building. Four hours of the back of your head would be AWESOME. Especially if you do several cuts back-and-forth from each camera.
