Strip Transcriptions

Has the transcribing of strips ceased? I ask because I was trying to quickly find a recent strip (before the timing of it being funny in the context of the conversation i was having ran out) and couldn't.

Yeah, Checking back at the list. (Flipping through pages on clipboard.) We stopped transcribing the strips on 9/10/2007.

I stopped because:
1. The transcription program seems to take longer to respond to me since Dave moved away from the BLC group.
2. I had better things to do with my time.
3. I just noticed that Shalainia has gotten credit for every comic I ever transcribed. I'm annoyed at you for that.

I haven't done any strips for a while because I tried to transcribe a few and never succeeded because the interface seemed buggy. It reset all progress completely a few times, so I figured it would be better to wait until Dave gets that sorted out.

The reason why I got credit for Night Owl's strip is that they have to go through moderator's approval before you can view them, and although Dave tried to get it to display both the names of the transcriber and the moderator, it never seemed to work.

Once the transcribtion system is stable and most of the bugs have been cleared up, I'd like to catch up on the transcriptions.

Hi, new here. *waves*

If the people who did the original mass transcription are getting a little transcribed out, I can probably help out with the ongoing job. I might even remember to use American spellings!

I'll be over here in the corner if I'm needed.

I guess I should have read the forum first. I had a little free time this morning and went to transcribe a strip or two (I thought). After about an hour and a half fighting trying to get it to accept the information for the second panel I gave up. I was going to try again later but if it's going to act wonky I may just wait until we get the all clear.
I spend so much time reading webcomics and forums this would give me something to do while I wait for new strips and forum posts.

I must regretfully agree. I don't know what happened to the transcription process since it looks exactly the same as the one I used in 2006. But apparently when Dave separated from BLC they took the working part of the code with them. I also tried to transcribe a couple of strip. But after the third time the system kicked me out with the error message "You can't transcribe the comic because NightOwl is already working on it." I just gave up. Dave, you're just shooting yourself in the foot here.

Ahhh .. I originally signed up for the forum to ask about the "dialog search" function which appeared unable to direct me to the recent strip about Einstein posting on wikipedia (searching for "Einstein" finds zero strips). Oddly enough, I found it on someone's blog when I googled for the keywords...
