"Paaaaaancake" Original Art!

Tuesday, April 01, 2008 - 12:30 PM

Fun news for every Sheldonista who missed their chance on this Original Art: today's your day to snag the Original Art for the Pancake-Eatin'-Extravaganza Splash Page in the "Good Luck, Baby Duck" storyline!

This drawing was an exclusive for "A Blizzard of Lizards" — flip to page 125 and you'll see all cool little drawn details in the pic. Then head on over and throw your hat into the ring... here.

I love it when I really get a chance to *draw*...to stretch out, take my time and enjoy all the little nooks an crannies of a drawing. This drawing was definitely one of those times. Here, let me show you some close-ups:

For whoever ends up getting the drawing, I'm also going to add in the original pencil sketch for the splash-page, like so:

So, if you want a little slice of pancake awesomeness, swing on over!

Arthur's diggin' on pancakes stems from this Sheldon strip [sheldoncomics.com] in November 2002.

Not being a CAD reader myself, I did a quick search on that site's keyword-search, and the only "pancake" strip that came up was on June, 2003 ( http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/comic.php?d=20030614 ). Is that the strip you meant?

A)This drawing actually makes me hungry.
B)I don't think that even as a reference "Paaaaaaaaaancake" or "Pancaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakes" (actually two different takes on the exclamation of deliciousness) can be considered allusion. They are both pretty generic exclamations of joy for pancakes and other breakfast accoutrement.
C)I was as surprised as you probably were to find that deliciousness is a word that spell check allows, considering it wants a space in spell check.
D)I know I am going on and on, this is my first post, even thought I have been reading and lurking for almost a year now... :) Thank you for making life a little lighter, Dave!

Dang it, Dave. I wish so many people DIDN'T like your original art! That way, I wouldn't be outbid!
;)

Anyway, it looks awesome. Good luck!

Pancakes are only edible when they're buckwheat/buttermilk or sourdough and covered with real maple syrup and real butter.

No fakery in the condiments such as margarine or pancake syrup (colored Karo), and no Bisquick allowed.

Put 4 of them in a pile and cover with an egg over easy and you have a one-eyed Texas stack. Add good, hot, black coffee and some crisp bacon along with the butter & REAL maple syrup and it is a meal fit for the gods.

In Response to DaveKellett (#41954):

Nov 02: - since Dave couldn't eat his Little Wrangler Silver Dollar Short Stack pancakes, Arthur took over?

Also, that is one gorgeous drawing Dave. Uh, in a good way, I mean.

In New Zealand they make little miniature pancakes that they call pikelets. Best pancakes ever, seriously.

Ok, now I am really really hungry, and there is no one here to make me pancakes. How could you do this to me?????????
