For those who enjoyed Monday's strip, allow me to point you to past installments of "Punctuation Marks That Never Caught On..."

Examples 1, 2, and 3.

Hey, c'mon Mr K - the tree-hugging green solution to the punctuation marks problem is not simply to invent new ones willy-nilly. Shame upon you! Instead we should all simply make the existing ones work harder, perhaps along the lines once championed by the Late, sometimes great Victor Borge [youtube.com]

no to save trees we should do away with all punctuation marks whatever they only take up valuable space and use more trees dont you agree i also think we can use less ink by foregoing capital letters

In Response to abracadabra (#43207):

Or we could create new letters.
Like the umlaut. Not that English could benefit much from that one...

The end of this strip really cracked me up, maybe because I too have thought it would be better to live in the Trek universe, lol.

Hello!
You've probably been told this a thousand times, but there's a short story by Jonathan Safran Foer on the same subject: "A Primer for the Punctuation of Heart Disease" (The New Yorker, June 10, 2002) You might love it? Maybe? Possibly? If you're anything like me? Anyway, enjoy.

I don't know....it seems the Trek universe is TOO exciting. Aliens all warring with each other and with us, a galaxy-wide catastrophe around every corner, the Borg, giant alien ships coming to look for whales and destroying the earth with whale song at about eleventy gazillion decibels, old space probes come back mixed with alien technology and destroying earth unless they hear from The Creator, new space diseases, cornucopia-shaped super weapons from another galaxy eating planets, giant space amoeba eating planets and starships, predatory alien life forms of all designs, "Q", wearing a red shirt on an away team being a sure death sentence.

Yep, MUCH too exciting.
