It seems more like an homage to "Naruto". Walking on water, climbing up trees, balancing things on your head, being able to shoot energy blasts out of your hands are all typical things ninjas have to learn at ninja school.
I love the drawing of Arthur in this strip. It's so funny. You can totally tell what is going on in his head as he floats by too. Basically the strip itself wouldn't be as funny if it didn't follow the previous one. Just cause you've seen him first figuring out how to float on his feet, and bragging about it to Sheldon. This strip is Arthur going "I'm the Best, and You're Not: Second Act".

I loved Wednesday's strip.
To me Flaco's triumphant pose once he reaches the top right before they sink is awesome!
