Book Launch Party on Sunday! You're Invited!

Sunday, August 03, 2008 - 11:57 PM

My friends, you are cordially invited to a night of awesomeness: The Book Launch Party for "Pugs: God's Little Weirdos" -- this Sunday, Aug. 10th, from 7-10 PM, at the Beverly Hills night spot, The Crescent.

We've had three book launch parties before, and each one has been bigger 'n better than the last. I can't wait for this one. The Crescent, as you may know, is a very cool indoor/outdoor lounge bar with double-sided fireplaces, 25-foot leather couches, and a full-service bar and restaurant.

I'll be putting free, personalized sketches in pug books all night long...and handin' out high-fives at near rock-bottom prices. This is the night for such things, my friends.

And because this book is so specifically themed around pugs, we're giving 10% of all the night's sales to the LA Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. They'll be on-hand that night, so feel free to give them a high-five as well -- they deserve it.

So come on out! 7-10PM this Sunday at The Crescent in Beverly Hills.

Well I'd love to come, but Google Maps informs me that it's a "1 Day, 11 Hour" trip. So unless another portion of the proceeds can go to a "pay for that guy's gas" fund... no can do. But good luck with the launch! I'm definitely putting your books on my Christmas list! :)

Ha! No, dogs aren't allowed at the venue, I'm sorry to say. It's a lounge bar and restaurant...and a book-launch party. Not at all the kind of event to bring a pup to.

Yeah, sorry here, too. $800 in airfare, not counting the car rental and hotel in Cali. A wee bit much. I love a party as much as a frat-boy, but that is one heck of a cover charge.

Good luck and hopes for mucho success, anyhow. Perhaps fans can bring stuffed, plush pugs to the party, or pics of their own doing zany things?

Inundating Dave with plush pugs would be a neat trick.

It's funny. I was looking at the pictures from the Pure Ducky Party and, more specifically, the ones with Dave and Kris Straub side by side. I'd never really even thought about it before, but for some reason I guess I always subconsciously imagined Kris was on the short side and Dave was on the medium-tall side (say, around six foot). Clearly, at least one side of that equation is wrong. Of course, it's hard to tell from the pictures exactly how wrong I was.

Until I meet either one face to face, I'm going to go on imagining that Kris is actually short and Dave is roughly the size of an Oompa Loompa.
