At my brother's wedding, a boxed Aladdin set of Jasmine and some other action figurines was used to lure the flower girl down the aisle. I think the only reason flower petals hit the floor was when they fell out of her basket as she was running to Mom to get the toys.
Children: Performing on command since 512 B.C.!

At my wedding, the flower girl was carried down the aisle by her father because she wouldn't move or stop crying otherwise. She did get a good path of petals though.
Incidentally, when my wife was a flower girl at the age of 3 or so,
same exact thing. Carried by daddy.
