Four definitely seem to have pulled away. I like three of the four, but am reticent about one of them, even though all four are funny. As a matter of fact, I like most of the top 15, especially MINE! Everyone should go vote for my caption (but for fairness, I'm not saying which is mine). You have some creative readers, Dave - I'm glad I'm not in your shoes!
I just have to say, my favorite by far is "This is awkward. I can't remember if we dated or not." I'm so sad it's fallen behind in the polls, as it's classic Arthur ridiculousness. But, they're all awesome! I'm so jealous of the creativity on display here :).
I voted for the "she asked if we have dental" entry. I find many of these funny, but liked the "dental" one the best because it ignores the fact that it's a rhino sitting there. I like the subtlety. :-)
Dave, I certainly didn't mean to insult them, nor you. I just feel that none of them are up to the usual standard around here. I don/t mean to offend you, but there is a problem here, and I don't think it's with the entrants or your judging process.
No, I think the art is too funny on its own, which leaves any possible punchline as anti-climatic as the final panel of a typical Garfield. Look at it this way: That strip could go up with the text "Err..." and be funny. The text isn't important to the humor at all.
When you do this next year, I think it'd be helpful for the art to rely more on the punchline. You're a funny guy and you make great strips. Your readers are funny people, and this is supposed to showcase that. But this particular strip isn't doing the best possible job of it.
Anyway. Sorry if I insulted you.
Oh, and I voted for the "Awkward, can't remember if we dated". It was to me the only punchline that didn't acknowledge the funny artwork head-on, which made it the highlight of the strip in spite of the art. :)

I have to share this, it had me in stitches: I showed the poll to my parents. They both loved the top 3. When I told them which one was mine they looked at me askance and said "That's the one we don't get. It's not funny."

I was hoping that, from among the 15, one or two would emerge as the clear leader among Sheldonistas. Because, I'll be honest: There are a lot of good ones in that list.
But after a week of voting, it looks like the highest four among them have barely earned over 10% of the vote, each. So! That makes my job a little trickier, but still fun, nonetheless.
Tune in Wednesday as I announce the winner from among the 15!
