OMG Dave, THANK YOU. I weep for a nation that cannot let Cookie Monster EAT HIS DANG COOKIES. As a child, I never felt the need to eat a box of Oreos in one sitting to be "just like Cookie Monster" and I don't understand why people don't give kids credit for possessing a little bit of intelligence.

That is just one reason that I'll be buying the Sesame Street DVDs from the 70's and 80's for my son to watch when he's older (he's three months old). It's pretty easy to avoid the current shows since we live in Europe but if we lived in the States I honestly don't know what I'd do. We had such easy and free childhoods - why did our generation go so crazy when we grew up?

/rant (sorry!)

PS This is not my creation but I've been using it as an avatar for a while (hope my HTML-fu is strong...)

In Response to Shalaina (#46810):

As a side note, "The Cookie Monster of my Youth" would be an excellent name for a rock band...

Last I checked, and it has been a while, cookie monster didn't give up cookies, but rather just cutback. Apparently they made cookies a sometimes food... but I suppose that could've changed entirely...
