Yes, friends, males are amused by, and will go to great lengths to impress other males by practicing, just this sort of thing. If not for us, the "funniest/amazing video" shows would not exist.

One time a buddy and I practiced a two man, juggling bayonets trick. Cost us a little nick here and there and some loss of blood (I got four stitches); but when it was perfected, we got oohs and aahs from the other guys. Impressing them was the goal.

That, and the free beer we won in bets from others.

Think up a useless but impressive thing to do, practice until you get it right, and increase your status in the group thereby.
