No Lizards / No Ducks

Sheldonista Joshua H. sends in these two pics from Maryland. He tells me he passes the sign all the time, and finally snapped a few pics to share with you. Thanks, Joshua!
(Note: It's possible that I've been snookered into advertising someone's insurance agency on the Sheldon site. But, I figure if someone went through the trouble of reprogramming their sign with some Sheldon-oriented cleverness...let's send 'em some bidness.)

It's quite possible you are winding us all up here, but on the chance you are not:
It's unlikely to be a Sheldon reference. It's just insurance company copy. It's Allstate referencing their competition's mascots. The lizard is Geico. The duck is Aflac. You have in fact been snookered. :)

Maybe Sheldon has had some kind of underlying insurance theme this whole time. Is there an insurance company with a pug mascot?

Seoman beat us all to it. The Geico Gecko and the oft-ignored Aflac Duck is what the sign is referring to.

It's not necessarily a reference, but it's still awesome! I for one never made the connection between those two mascots- I now have a new respect for Allstate. And of course, the Sheldon readers out there will immediately make the connection!

No pugs in the industry that i know about, but a British insurance firm (¿Churchill?) used to have a bulldog as a mascot.
