I had a Sheldon reader e-mail me today, asking "which Kaiser" I meant in Thursday's strip. Let's be honest: When it comes to dopey facial hair, most any Kaiser offers a solid choice. It was almost a prerequisite for getting the job. But for my money, you can't beat the ridiculous, ridiculous chops on Wilhelm I.
Not a lot of ladies swooning when this dude walks in with his sails unfurled on both cheeks.

Is it disturbing that I knew which Kaiser right away?
... Then again, I AM a Dutch student who just did her finals in, among others, history... (I covered wars, you know!)

Possibly a tad more groomed. Sorta like Ben Kingsley in Without a Clue.

Guess I'm lucky to not have lived in the 19th century, cause I hate facial hair. And that even though I'm German.

Actually, you can't know how much the ladies loved it. Remember: another era, another country. There was a time when really chubby (almost fat) women were The Look. What looks ridiculous for you, might as well be irresistably attractive to others. :)
