I am soooooo glad that I had swallowed my latte before getting to the last panel, else there would have been coffee splattered all over my desk. Just wild! You did it again, Dave!

You almost got a Confirmed Keyboard Kill with that one, Dave. I did make a mess on the desk with my fresh hot black, but remembered to turn my head away from the keyboard and monitor just in time.
What you did get was a CBK (Confirmed Bills Kill). ;)

Thank you for the kind words, everybody! This strip was one of those rarities in that, I have no idea where the final panel came from. I was writing for one direction, and ended up in an entirely different arena. A better one!

This video is similar, but it actually includes (a stand-in for) VY Canis Majoris http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I34FNr_peUk&feature =related
This video is nice 'cause it includes an animation of the surface activity of one of the larger "close" stars, Betelguese:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pl-oR7hTTYY
What I wanna know is whether that animation is purely creative or whether it's based on actual photographic evidence. Either way, GROOVY!
Actually, Betelgeuse has shrunk 15% since 1993, which, for a star as wide as Jupiter's orbit, is saying something. A Betelgeuse supernova would be an impressive show. http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn17282-betelg euse-the-incredible-shrinking-star.html
And, finally, and animation based on actual data showing stars at the middle of the Milky Way orbiting our galaxy's central super-massive black hole as quickly as once every 16 years: http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn16247-star-p aths-reveal-secrets-of-milky-ways-black-hole.html
