Oh! Also! For those curious: I did a rough estimate of how many pages it'll take me to finish the first "part" of the story (essentially, the first book) -- and it looks like roughly 150 to 200 pages. So that means we'll be wrapping up the first book around January 2013.
Lordy Lord!

In Response to bullfrog117 (#51701):
Good gravy, Dave... that is far too long a time. I might not be alive then and you'd still be working through the first book.
When are you going to get around to giving DRIVE it's own site? Hell, maybe even give it it's own page here so that it can be updated more often than once a week.

I am infatuated with Drive, and I think the length sounds perfect! I can't wait to see where it goes! :)
The only thing I'd recommend is maybe doing a few full weeks of them as "bullfrog117" recommends, to get to 200 a few months sooner. This way you'll be sure to finish them before the world ends in December 2012!

Yes, bring on the daily strip! Lord knows I don't have the patience/attention span for a story that lasts three years! Heck, I can't even remember why I logged on to the computer 20 minuets ago! I think it had something to do with work ...

I gotta say, after re-reading through the past strips again, I have to vote for a Drive-specific site.
I don't think I can wait until 2013. :(

would it be possible to bump Sheldon down to 5 days a week and Drive up to two days a week? would that mess too much with the timeline of the making of the next Sheldon book?

Drive is nice, but I for one would NOT be happy to see any more Sheldon sacrificed for it. Sheldon's already taken a hit.
Just my 2 cents...

I'm not that in favour of losing more Sheldon for DRIVE myself... as much as I'm liking DRIVE, I came here and stayed here all those years ago for Sheldon.
I still think the separate page/site is the best route...

I appreciate the support for both titles: I love both in different ways!
The plan is to keep Drive as a Saturday-only feature until the new site launches, and then I'll see if more time can be found for more Drive per week. Doubtful, but we'll see.
But seriously: You guys need to know how much that support means to me. Starting up Drive, and knowing that it would/will take up to six months for the story to really get humming was intimidating...but I allowed myself the chance to risk it a bit. So your forebearance, and outright enthusiasm, is super appreciated.

I'm starting to get really comfortable with Drive as well. I can stand the one day a week option, as I, too, really wouldn't want less Sheldon.
Whenever it gets its own site I'll follow it there. I already read a few one-a-week strips such as The Amazing Charles Christopher and Family Man. Of course, the classic Prince Valiant is also a weekly.
Keep up the fantastic work, Dave.
