Everyday, millions of amazing songs lose their awesomeness - doomed to be deleted! Can nothing be done to save these MP3's from such a cruel fate?

I think some celebrities should get together and have a telethon, or something to raise awareness of this important issue.

For me, the quintessential song of this sort was by Melanie, and called "Brand New Key". Came out in 1971 or 72, the the stations played it three times and hour, 24/7. I don't know who she was sleeping with, but it worked.

At first it was a hip little song, then it became annoying, then I despised the song, the writer and the artist and would plug my ears and shout "NAH!NAH!NAH!" whenever it played on the radio.

Then, in about 2001, I came across it, before downloading free MP3s was judged to be illegal. Napster days. I downloaded the song, listened to it once, and deleted it and have never played it again. That small taste was enough to remind me of the sonic nausea of thirty years before.

One I can still listen to is; "Life Is A Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me)" by Reunion. Listening to that guy spit out all that verbiage at that speed makes me run out of breath just listening to him.

If you want, you can hear the song on LALA, here: http://popup.lala.com/popup/504684672193316305
