Guys, you have to check this out. Visual FX student Dan Taubert has created this incredible short based on "Drive". (Here's a reduced-size embedded player...but watch it full screen if you can, by clicking the four outward-facing arrows on the lower right.)
Dan, this is incredible! ...Incredible, incredible! Thank you so much for this. I even love how the Continuum ships are at the Denny's, as well. Ain't nobody can resist a little "Moons Over My-Hammy".
(And for those interested, here's Dan's write-up of the process along the way.)

One thing, and I'm probably nit-picking here:
Since they pinch space, and it's basically instantaneous, shouldn't the ship just disappear [and reappear in the new spot]? There shouldn't be a huge rush of acceleration, right?
Actually, they need to accelerate away in order to pinch space. Can't be too near anything else, remember? Probably some galactic law that says you have to be a minimum of fifteen light-minutes from other ships and Denny's or something. Don't want to sour the ice cream do you?
So accelerate away, then when you hit the distance... PINCH.
Man, This is soooo AWESOME!!!! I wish we could just jump on now and go on a trip!!!! Needs to be somewhere on tv, maybe Discovery channel. I think that would be easier and faster to get it on vs Cartoon Network. But I agree with all about tv.
