My reading of the rescue of Gandalf is this:

Radagast the Brown followed Gandalf's request to alert his animal friends and asked that news be brought to Orthanc. The eagle was coming to deliver news or was doing a recon fly over, saw Ganfalf, and took him away. No moths, it was a moth in the movie right?, need apply.

You are correct. That was, unfortunately, the very first thing I thought when I read today's comic. *sigh* Sometimes being a pedant spoils the punchline ...
Other times, you *are* the punchline.

Oh, still a good comic and punchline, don't mean to say otherwise, but the depths of geekery know no bounds.

For example, I think I frightened this lady at the last comic convention I went to by telling her way too much about the toy FN P90 she was carrying. She just had it because it was what they used in Stargate shows, but I could tell her who made them, caliber of ammunition, that only one other gun at the time used that ammunition, and what anime shows I had seen it in. I also told her what local ranges would rent one if she wanted to try the real thing.
