A duck and a chameleon are a neat solution!
Ours is to leave a towel draped over the edge of the bath. The spiders use it as a ladder to escape.
But... Don't lazily use the towel during the night, or you will get spidered. :(

They get into the bathtub and sinks because they're looking for water. Set up a little water dish or something in the corner and they won't climb into the bathtub and get trapped anymore.
Also, they really hate powdery dust, so cornstarch sprinkled around the edges of a room will tend to keep 'em out. Or around your bed. Unless they come down from the ceiling.

In Response to diTaykan (#56283):
I've never had a spider attack me in bed that way - but I do tend to run into webs that are under construction across our stairway during the night. Reminds me of the Larson cartoon of the spiders building a web across the bottom of a kiddies' slide saying "If we pull this off, we'll eat like kings!"
