Dave, have you or your wife taken up knitting recently? Just wondering.
Have you knitted anything for dogs? Because if you have, I think ridiculous pics are in order.

Actually, I've been loving the knitting stuff, but it seems pretty clear that nobody in Dave's household knits.
Knitting is good for making flat things, crochet is good for making round ones. If Flaco was trying to make a TP cozy, he'd have been much better off to crochet it.
Then again, knitting in the round is possible with double-pointed needles - which is pretty extreme! So maybe that's what he's been up to.
I'm a big knitter myself, and self-taught too, which is a lot harder to do with knitting than crocheting, although for some reason, no matter how hard I try or who tries to teach me, I just can't get crocheting. Anyways, the reason I'm revealing this about myself is really to say that I'm TOTALLY enjoying all the knit related comics, recently. You make a knitters heart sing...and laugh!
Also, I'm not so sure about knitting being better for flat items and crocheting being better for curved. As you mentioned, there IS knitting in the round, which i totally love to do. Not to mention that I've created many items through knitting that are definitely NOT flat. I'd rather knit any project in the round than knitting it flat and then piecing it together!

Nocturnal Knitters Tag Up New Jersey Town

Over the last 3 months, a rogue band of mystery knitters who call themselves the "Salty Knits," has been hitting up -- and knitting up -- just about everything that doesn't move."
There is more to the article... including pictures of trees with knitted branch covers.
