Does the guy have a real health problem, or does he just like taking weird pills. So far as I can tell from looking around at sites not plugging alternative medicine, fish oil is good for these things:
In patients who have had a heart attack, fish oil improves survival.
It reduces triglycerides.
In patients with high cholesterol levels it reduces the risk of coronary events but does not decrease mortality.
It reduces blood pressure slightly.

Fish oil is supposed to be good for you. It's supposed to do all of those things.
But.
It gives you fish burps. Blech. I tried the pills, and that was exactly the problem I had. They're beneficial, but slightly nasty.

In Response to Crazydogdude (#56656):
"It gives you fish burps." My pharmacy started carrying a brand of fish oil capsules that stated it was formulated to "help prevent fish burps."
I said to the pharmacist "That's awfully nice of them to go to so much effort, I'm sure, but how the heck do you get the fish to
swallow them?"

Dude, The fishy burps were the worst part of those pills. Those burps stick around for like 5 hours.

euuuueeew! I did read that the whole of human civilization is due to fish oil, or rather fish. Since humans tended to congregate near rivers and seas all that fish oil helped our brains grow bigger and more intelligent. Which is worse, fish oil burps or fish finger burps?
