OMG--I remember this book.
***SPOILERS*** ;-)
The monster at the end of the book is Grover himself--he did not know that until he reached the end.
I have this book. I remember giggling wildly the entire time *every* time my mom read it.
Over the last three months I have been slowly combing the archives trying to find a Sheldon strip to buy the original art for. I wanted a good one that spoke to me and had Flaco in it.
Last night, as always I saw the email on my iPhone, read the strip, gasped loudly enough to wake my husband, then sprinted into the living to room to log on and purchase it. :)
I can't wait to frame it. Of course, today I went and dug out the book, as my husband had never heard of it.
A good one to purchase. :)
I just saw it today and got such a kick out of it (that I registered for the forum!) because, of course, my mom read it to me when I was little... and I have just, in the past three weeks, begun reading it to my own little baby boy. :*) At 11 weeks, I can't really tell yet if HE likes it, but Mommy sure likes reading it!
My girls loved this book when they were young. Of course, I had to try and use the Grover voice, but I think I sounded more like Yoda. Ever notice how Grover and Yoda sound alike? Separated at birth, maybe?
Anyway they loved the book. Reading to them at nighttime or even during the day was always a joy for me.
