Strip Recommendation

Monday, May 07, 2012 - 01:17 AM

After writing today's strip, I started doodling out what I wanted Arthur's spirit-fish to look like. And again and again, I kept sketching out the same type of fish. It took me a second to realize what was happening...but I was sketching out little homage images to one of my favorite comic strips of all time: Sherman's Lagoon, by Jim Toomey.

It's a wonderful, sarcastic, joy-filled strip -- that's perfect for kids and adults -- and I can't recommend it enough. It's just all kinds of wonderful. Sherman's Lagoon, guys.

I just checked Sherman's Lagoon out. It is hilarious! I particularly enjoyed yesterday's strip.

Actually, now that I have read a whole months worth of strips, it strongly remindeds me of "Bloom County". It doesn't seem to be political like Bloom was, but it has the same type of humor. Hilarious.

i've been a faithful reader of Sherman's Lagoon from its start. i get the current day's color version via Daily Ink subscription (instead of the 1-wk lag posted on the SL website - must be a syndication restriction thing). it's even more entertaining in color!

I actually have a Sherman's Lagoon original sketch hanging in my entryway, it's been a good strip for years now.
