Bringing Up Father

You may have heard me mention my love for George McManus' great pre-War comic strip, "Bringing Up Father". Apropos of nothing in particular, I thought I'd do an homage in his style, today.

If you'd like to see past homages, you can check out my versions of Krazy Kat, and Goodnight Moon.

GREAT homage strip Dave! Next time, I dare you to try your hand a mimicking some of McManus' backgrounds, those are insanely, amazingly detailed, you'd be a braver man than I *L*! Man, could they draw back then! How about a homage to Cliff Sterrett's Polly and Her Pals?
Again, great job, and thanks for remembering the oldies!

Love this! My mom got a book that reprinted a lot of Bringing Up Father strips, and I had to read the whole thing!
Maybe you could tackle Winsor McCay's Little Nemo, or better yet, Dreams of the Rarebit Fiend.

Should I be worried that I completely understood all of that, despite having no clue when it comes to any sort of modern slang? I'm not that old!

Should I be worried that I understood none of it, despite being mostly up-to-date on current slang?

That depends. I was concerned because understanding it makes me look much, much older than I am. I'm guessing you're pretty young though, I may be wrong, so no, I think probably you should not be worried.

I'd be super worried though about that semantical devilry thing you're mistaking for subversion of humour.
