Guest Strip Week: David Malki !

Friday, August 10, 2012 - 08:48 AM

Rounding out our guest strip week is my good friend David Malki !, purveyor of fine jokeries over at Wondermark. Dave's famous for his unique incorporation of Victorian-era etchings into re-worked, re-imagined strips with an awesome, modern writing style. Which makes his guest strip all the more awesome: Dave's a great artist, and it's fun to see him try a different approach.

A huge thank you to Dave...and to Dylan, William, and Kris for guesting this week. It was awesome having you!

And I'm back to it on Monday!

No 10-year-old should have to worry about income taxes, not even multi-billionaires like Sheldon. That's why he has accountants, right?

This was absolutely brilliant. I do hope, though I know this is a guest strip, that Sheldon's millions can come back into play. Or, perhaps an arc dealing with the U.S. elections focus on rich people, similar to the financial crisis arc or the Libel Suit.

Don't hold your breath Ipood. I suggested a return to Sheldonsoft many months ago but nary a peep about it. Just a bunch of comments on how it sucks to get old from Gramps point of view. Rarely do we see Sheldon do any of the stuff that made me fall in love with the strip in the beginning when it was about a billionare genius kid being a billionare genius kid. Do fun wacky stuff that if you were a billionare genius kid you would do with your billions and super smart brain. Even the strips with Zod were funny but never see that any more either.

I think Sheldon has enough money to make this guy disappear.

In Response to imaloco (#62006):

I'd have to agree. With any web comic, or comic in general, when it becomes little more than a vehicle to either (a) mirror current events or (b) mirror the author's personal beliefs/lifestyle/opinions, it ceases to be as much of an escape or enjoyment in many cases and enters the realm of trying to be socially impacting/"with it."

Not every strip needs to be a Doonesbury or Bloom County. I definitely would agree that Sheldon was much funnier and much more enjoyable when it started and the characters/focus of the comic seemed to begin to change.

Apologies for the above typo. It should have read "when it started and BEFORE the characters...."
