What, is there something in the water (on both sides of the Atlantic)? You and John Allison, two of the finest webcomic writers on the planet, suddenly pile on the sad at the same time...
Very good stuff.
Just what I needed to read, a reminder that we leave bits of ourselves in the people we love and this makes the world a better place. One more example of the power of art.
This choked me up, too. A very good ending to a well written story.
Dangit Dave! Next time I invite you into my house, don't start chopping onions and throwing dust in the air as soon as you get here!
Oh, gosh darn it... now you've gone and made me cry!
I just got something in my eye... sniff... I'm fine.
Man, I would have bought today's strip....... but someone got to it before me, congrats
...*sniff*...
...*sniffle*...*wipe*...
Lovely story. I believe his stories are some of the ones which makes us came back to this site every day, not only for our fresh dosis of humor, but for something else not many comic authors dare.
Thanks Dave, I loved this story line. I had a similar experience. My Dad died March 16th and I was given his camera equipment. Nice camera and some film to go with it. Would rather have my Dad, but you know...I took out the camera to check it out. It didn't show there was film inside so I opened it up and lo and behold, I ruined the film inside the camera. I am so glad Sheldon and Gramps had a better ending. :)
Thanks for the storyline Dave and the beautiful last two strips. Made me cry, and my wife too when I had her read it. Beautiful way to present that backstory.
Like many others have already said, I always enjoy reading my Sheldon and Drive! Also, haven't had a comic make me cry before... and registered just to say thanks :)
Keep up the awesome work!
p.s. - I looked for the buy link too, alas, must have been sold to the first viewer (or maybe you kept it for yourself :) I say a print of these two strips is in order!
I just got back from a holiday and have had a chance to read the strips from the last week.
Those 2 strips kicked my ass.. i am still battling to hold back on the tear front!
Thank you for such a beautiful storyline. I love the way you had Gramps trembling when he opened that envelope. He probably should have been sitting down for that. Nice to finally meet Sheldon's parents.
WAAAAAAAAAAAH that was so beautiful *snif*
I lost my parents young, and I was raised by my grandparents. So yeah, that could have come from my life. Brilliantly done.
While Europe has advanced greatly within the last 500 years, why is the continent of Africa continue to be poor and undeveloped.
