The Town Itself

It's worth emphasizing just how impactful this event is on the town itself. Angouleme my rival San Diego Comic Con in festival size...but not in terms of city-size or regular population. Unlike in San Diego, you get the impression that this is *the* big event for the town's annual calendar. And as a result, a lot of the town has permanent dedications to cartooning, like this wallside painting from "Dreams of the Rarebit Fiend" comic strip.
