I Sketched A Thought

An awful lot of you sent kind words about yesterday’s strip: Thank you for that. When you do a strip based on punchlines and goofy adventures, it’s nice to have a quieter day of reflection, every now and again.

Enough of you had asked for prints of that strip that I’ve put them up in the store. It won’t be a permanent thing: But I’ll leave them up in the store for enough days for everyone to grab a print that wanted one.

This Weekend!

Just a reminder for Southern Californians:

This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, I’ll be at Wondercon in Anaheim, CA — giving out free sketches and signing books at booth #615. I don’t think I’ve ever done a show in Anaheim before, so do come out ‘n say hi if you’re from ’round them parts.

Oh! And signing right next to me is a trio of talent: Kris Straub of Starslip/Chainsawsuit, David Malki of Wondermark, and Danielle Corsetto of Girls With Slingshots.

Movin’ House

My apologies for the lack of a Sheldon strip on Tuesday. After weeks of planning, Tuesday was our big “moving house” day, and sure enough, I couldn’t find anything. Just a short list of what I’ve been hunting for in cardboard boxes:

– My keyboard (40 minutes)
– Socks, this morning (20 minutes)
– A plate, any plate, that I could eat breakfast off of (I ended up using a paper towel)
– Actual breakfast (I reheated a burrito)

Moving, everyone! It’s the bestest.

But anyway: Tuesday should be the only real hiccup day. It’ll be smooth sailing from here on out. ….Especially once I find plates.

Two Bits of Good News

1.) I want to thank everyone for their patience and kind words for Drive, as I get through a particularly intense work period on the film, Stripped. As I said in January, Drive isn’t going anywhere, it’s just taking a temporary hit to the ol’ update schedule. But I’m really thankful that the strip is missed so much: Drive is the great love of my creative life…and I can’t wait to get back to it.

In our first bit of good news, Drive will be updating twice a week in April. I’m very much looking forward to it!

2.) Also! For true-blue fans of Drive: I’ll be giving out free sketches and signing copies of the Drive books Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Wondercon. Located this year in Anaheim, CA, the show has me at booth #615…right next to a trio of talent: Kris Straub of Starslip/Chainsawsuit, David Malki of Wondermark, and Danielle Corsetto of Girls With Slingshots.

I’ll be bringing all the Sheldon and Drive books, prints and posters for anyone looking to round out their collection. Come on out!

I’m at WonderCon, this weekend!

This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, I’ll be at Wondercon in Anaheim, CA — giving out free sketches and signing books for folks at booth #615. I’ll be bringing all the Sheldon and Drive books, prints and posters for anyone looking to round out their collection — and I’ll have 5 of the rare Arthur statues with me, too.

And! If you’re a Sheldon Original Art collector: Strips purchased at the show will be $25 off. So if there’s one you’ve had your eye on, e-mail meto tell me which strip to bring.

I’ll see you there!

The Site Done Got Brokety

Heads up, all: We’re in the process of bringing a new Sheldon site online, and in the meantime…we done broke the current navigation buttons — so it’s back to text links!

It’s only a temporary hiccup until the new site launches in a few weeks (days?), and I apologize for making the old hoopty-looking site look even more hoopty. 1999 text links forever, y’all!

This is Rad

Oh man. This is awesome.

The legendary MAD magazine illustrator and caricaturist Tom Richmond created the National Cartoonist Society program for this year’s Reuben Awards, and look who’s on the cover!

(…me! In the upper right)

Isn’t that cool? And there’s a little Arthur (with an awesome tie) and a little Sheldon there, too! And I’m right behind Jim Davis (Garfield) and his inkwell martini! I could not be more honored: Tom, you are awesome. Thank you.

PS: You can check out Tom’s work in MAD magazine, of course — but he also maintains a great blog on art process and illustrating, here.
