Intuition - Sheldon® Comic Strip

PANEL 1: SHELDON, a ten-year old boy with large glasses, floats in a green floaty in a swimming hole. ARTHUR, a yellow duck, sits in the water next to him.
ARTHUR: How are we supposed to know when to “trust our intuition”?

PANEL 2: ARTHUR continues to swim in the swimming hole, musing alone.
ARTHUR: Intuition is just your brain using pattern recognition BEFORE logic kicks in. So we register it as a “gut feeling.” Rather than a valid response to data.

PANEL 3: ARTHUR turns away, getting more stressed.
ARTHUR: But sometimes, what you THINK is your intuition is actually your biases kicking in. It’s your brain feeling before thinking, by leaning on established prejudices. But that ain’t intuition!

PANEL 4: Close up on SHELDON and ARTHUR as ARTHUR has a breakdown.
SHELDON: I’ll add a third one on there: what if “intuition” is actually just crippling anxiety rearing up like it always does?
ARTHUR: AUGGH. WHAT IF IT IS?!? What if it is?
