Dinosaur Comics

Hey! You! The person who didn’t catch the reference to “Dinosaur Comics” in today’s strip! Boy howdy do I have a treat for you: A link to said comic, where you will laugh with great laughter and enjoy with great enjoyment.

And, by extension, chuckle with great chucklement. (Thankfully, I can not link to the manga Sheldon, as that does not exist in any plane of reality I’m aware of.)

Language Lovers: This One’s For You!

Are you flummoxed by the English language? Scared that, even when you’re using it right, you’re probably also using it wrong? Well then do we have the shirt for you. Based on the heavily, heavily quoted punchline from this strip, the new “English Language” shirt just went up in the Sheldon shirt store!

One of My Favorite Strips

…since we’re comin’ up on Halloween this weekend, allow me to link to my favorite Halloween strip from the archives. Oh, Stage One candy, how much have you already haunted me?!?

Pumpkins

We haven’t done a decision tree in the strip in a while…in fact, I think the last one we did was back in 2007 for the Artist’s Decision Tree. But pumpkins, as a subject matter, warranted it.

Also: You will be happy to know that I got a pumpkin that does indeed look like that one photo of Nick Nolte.

New Shirts!

There are five new Sheldon shirts coming out in the next week or so (including an often-requested “Squee” shirt). BUT! I just got word that the first two shirts are already in the store…so I thought I’d show ’em to you!

Here’s the first one, based on Arthur’s famous remark in this strip:

And here’s the second one, based — again — on Arthur bein’ Arthur in this strip:

Let’s Name the Saturday Sci-Fi Strip, Shall We?

After a lot of deliberation, I believe I’ve settled on the final name and logo for the Saturday sci-fi strip: DRIVE.

As will become clear as the story progresses, it’s a particularly apt name, as the strip will be about the pinch drive, who drives it, and what drives them to drive it. You’ll see what I mean as time goes on. 🙂

Anyway, I’m really satisfied with the name, and with the minimalist/clean logo, so I hope you like it!

Convention Appearances for 2010

First off, I want to thank everyone who came out for Baltimore Comic-Con and Long Beach Comic-Con these past two weekends — you guys made them awesome. Getting the chance to meet folks face-to-face is the best part of my year, and I always look forward to it.

Since Baltimore was the last of my ten appearances for 2009, I thought I’d mention the 2010 conventions I have lined up so far:

– SAN FRANCISCO: Wondercon (April 2-4)

– CALGARY: Calgary Expo (April 24-25)

– SAN DIEGO: SDCC (July 22-25)

But! Here’s the deal: We can easily expand that list! I’ll happily come to any convention that has me out as a guest. All you need to do is e-mail your local convention and suggest they have me out. It really is that simple: They *want* feedback like that. That’s how the Calgary appearance came about, for example. So drop a line to your local convention: Let’s get Sheldon out to your neck of the woods!

Baltimore Comic-Con This Weekend!

Baltimore residents! Baltimore-adjacent residents! People-a-good-distance-away-from-Baltimore-but-who’d-still-be-willing-to-commute-in! Come on out to the Baltimore Comic-Con this weekend!

I’ll be there both days of the show at booth #2003 with my compadres Kris Straub and Brad Guigar, and across the aisle from our fourth compadre Scott Kurtz.

If you’re coming, and want me to bring a specific Sheldon original art to purchase at the convention sale of $25-off, please e-mail me and I’ll be sure to bring it along. 🙂

For those coming, I’ve put together a one-page, printable Sheldon guide to the show. Click HERE for the full-size, printable file, or click the image below.

The “How to Make Webcomics” book is up for a Harvey Award at the show, but we’re up against a book about Jack Kirby, so we’re under no illusions. But! Hopefully I’ll get a gift basket of Arby’s “Underdog” glasses like last year, so I can give them to Brad Guigar’s sons. 🙂
