Today’s strip isn’t the first time Arthur’s written a “helpful” letter to God. Here are some earlier ones — 1, 2, and 3 — with this one being my favorite.

A few dozen of you e-mailed and tweeted me, today, to share this patented “Amazing Banana Secret”*…which I hadn’t heard before:

Apparently, apes, gorillas and monkeys peel bananas from the bottom-up, not from the stem-down…as it takes care of the the string cheese problem aaaand the weird GI-tract nub in one fell swoop.

Thank you all for sharin’ that! I been doin’ it wrong all these years.

*PS: If I may quote from Dave Barry, doesn’t “Amazing Banana Secret” sound like a punk-rock band name?

There’s nothing more satisfying, as a cartoonist, than taking one of the most compact, powerful and breath-taking poems written in the English language…and making it a cartoon about kids and video games.

I think, in my heart of hearts, that’s what Dylan Thomas always intended, really.

This will be a treat for one true-blue fan of the strip: It’s the first appearance of Sheldon anywhere!

Sheldon, you see, originally appeared as one of four characters in my college strip, “Four Food Groups of the Apocalypse.” That strip was collected into book form in 1996, titled “A Well Balanced Meal.” You can see Sheldon on the cover, there:

4,000 copies were printed up, but sold out pretty quickly…and remaining copies are very hard to find — even for me! But I recently found a few pristine, pristine copies, and decided to part with one.

So if you’re interested in it, I started the bidding at $.01, as I’d rather have you guys decide what it’s worth. And if you’d like, I’m happy to put a signed, personalized sketch in there for you.

EDITED TO ADD: Thanks to the kindness of Phillip at Dumbrella Hosting, my e-mail’s back up! Basically, we’re moving around some DNS for sites of mine (like the upcoming DriveComic.com), and had the usual 12-24 hours until everything fully propagated. But we’re good to go, now.)
